Founding cohort · starts the week of January 11, 2027

Go through the whole course together, with my feedback at least twice a week.

Why do it together

In the cohort I can be hands-on: giving you feedback, and resolving your questions as they come up.

Everything in the course, plus what a video can't give you: my eyes on your poses and your playing, answers as your questions come up, a group to grow with, and time to go beyond the 21 sets.

  1. Eyes on your poses and your playingHabits are hard to see from the inside. On the calls and in your videos, I can spot what you can't, in your asana and at the violin, and show you what to change.
  2. Company along the wayA small group of violinists working on the same things. You show up for each other, and you learn from everyone's questions, not only your own.
  3. Answers when you need themAsk in the group space between calls, instead of waiting or guessing.
  4. A pace that holdsTwo calls a week keep you moving, with room to absorb each set.
  5. Beyond the courseTime to go further than the 21 sets: practices and ideas that never fit into the course, explored together.
  6. Continued supportSix months of monthly calls after the ten weeks, so the changes last.

Founding price, first cohort

$2,000 USD

After the founding cohort, the price is $3,000 USD.

Ten weeks together, then six months of monthly group calls. 12 founding seats. Starts the week of January 11, 2027.

What's a founding price?

It's a special price for the first cohort, the early adopters: $2,000 USD instead of $3,000. I'm committed to making Y4V Live the best it can be, and for that I need solid feedback and testimonials. You rate the same four dimensions at the start and the end, tell me what's working along the way, and if it helps you, share a few words about it. The founding price is my thank-you for helping make that happen.

Apply for the founding cohort

Or 3 payments of $700 USD.

Applying isn't a commitment: it's a chance to get to know each other on a short call, and see if it's a good fit. I read every application myself.

  4. A private callOne 45-minute call with me, just you.
  5. Video feedbackA few short assignments: record your asana and your playing, and I send you feedback on your alignment, adjustments for the poses, and how it all comes into the violin.

  7. After the ten weeksSix months of monthly group calls, to keep going together.

Why it matters

Prehab is far better than rehab.

Getting injured or burning out sets us back far more time, effort and money than investing in body-mind preparation now.

Feedback on how you stand, move and play is the most direct way I know to work on the habits behind it.

Who you'll work with

I used to be extremely rigid.

Playing violin felt constantly uncomfortable.

One of my violin teachers kept smacking me on the shoulder with his bow to remind me to relax it. My neck and shoulders always felt stiff, squeezing the violin, and many technical passages made me anxious.

Then I started practicing yoga, and found that what I was learning on the mat could come into the practice room and address all of it. Today, technical excerpts that once felt totally impossible feel comfortable to play.

In the works since 2013

I'm Samuel Wexler, a classically trained violinist, a multi-instrumentalist, and a 500-hour certified yoga teacher. I first saw how much yoga could do for violinists during my first teacher training, in 2013, and I've been developing this work ever since, including an advanced 300-hour training in India in 2023, to prepare for making this course.

Deep roots

Yehudi Menuhin, one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century, studied yoga with B.K.S. Iyengar, one of the most influential yoga teachers of his era. Menuhin called him

“my best violin teacher.”

They met in India in 1952, and Menuhin brought Iyengar to Europe to teach. He saw yoga as part of his quest “to understand consciously the mechanics of violin playing.” More than seventy years later, this course brings that same meeting of yoga and violin into your daily practice.

Founding members

The first cohort helps shape every one after it.

You rate the same four dimensions at the start and the end, give feedback along the way, and if it helps you, share a few words about it.

The guarantee

Not right for you? A full refund, up to 14 days into the cohort.

Any time before the cohort starts, or within its first 14 days: if it isn't right for you, you get a full refund, for any reason. No questions asked.

How to join

  1. Apply: a short form, about ten minutes, and no commitment. I read every application myself.
  2. A 20–30 minute resonance call with me, to get to know each other, answer your questions, and see if it seems like a good fit.
  3. If it is: your invoice (or the payment plan), and your seat is held.

Questions

How much time does it take?

Two 90-minute calls a week, plus about two sets of the course a week at your own pace. A set runs about an hour, broken into short parts, and you can spread it out.

How big is the group?

The founding cohort has 12 seats, so there's time for everyone's questions and feedback.

What if I miss a call?

Every call is recorded, so you can catch up.

I'm in pain or injured. Should I join?

Yoga for Violinists is education, not medical care. If you're injured, in pain or have a health condition, check with a professional who knows your history first. Tell me on the application, and I'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit.

Does applying commit me to anything?

No. Applying is how we start a conversation: a short resonance call to get to know each other better and see if it seems like a good fit. Interested but not sure yet? That's a good reason to apply.

Is there a payment plan?

Yes: 3 payments of $700 USD, at enrollment, in week 4 and in week 8, by invoice.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes. What you paid for the 21-Day Course counts toward Y4V Live or The Harmonious Violinist, and what you paid for Y4V Live counts toward The Harmonious Violinist. Write to me when you're ready.

Is it for amateurs or professionals?

Both. It's for anyone who wants playing violin to feel better, from amateurs to top-level players.

Is this religious or spiritual?

No. It's practical and non-dogmatic, and non-religious: there's nothing to believe, only things to try. It applies the essence of true yoga practice to violinists: deeper union within yourself and with your violin, without ever pushing any belief system on you. People of all beliefs are welcome.

What currency is the price in?

US dollars. Use the currency menu beside the price for an estimate in your own currency; at checkout you'll see the exact amount in your currency before you pay.

Is it for you?

For violinists who want the whole method with a group, and real feedback

It's for you if you want to go through the course with others, get feedback on how you actually stand, move and play, and have someone to ask when questions come up.

If you're a highly self-motivated learner and don't need feedback in real time, the self-paced course may fit you better.
